PRC Approves Rate Case for 2021
Home / PRC Approves Rate Case for 2021
As 2020 comes to a close, many customers are preparing for the USPS® rate changes to go into effect on January 24, 2021. As a reminder, anything sent prior to the rate case going into effect on January 24 will maintain the old rates, while anything that is sent on or after that date will need to be prepared with the new rates. An additional complicating factor is the end of the temporary price change which was implemented in mid-October and will be ending on December 27, 2020.
With multiple changes happening in such a short time period, there could be some confusion for customers who prepare mailings well in advance of their shipping date. To aid in the transition, BCC Software will be releasing updates for individual platforms throughout the coming month, with a goal of having all updates ready two weeks prior to the rate case going into effect.
The rate increases, which were approved by the Postal Regulatory Committee (PRC), are a response to the COVID-19 crisis and the committee’s continued effort to remain reasonable and equitable for all customers. According to the PRC, these changes will “maintain and continue the development of postal services of the kind and quality adapted to the needs of the United States.”
A full list of the upcoming price changes is available on the Postal Explorer site.
There are several ways to manage the price rate changes and handle the various jobs you prepare around the changeover date. If you have any questions regarding these methods, please contact Customer Support at 800-624-5234 or email tech@bccsoftware.com.
