April 30, 2018

On April 12, 2018, the President issued an executive order establishing a Task Force on the United States Postal System. The order directs the task force to evaluate the Postal Service’s finances and operations and will be chaired by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, or his designate. Other members of the task force include heads of the Office of Management and Budget, the Office of Personnel Management, and any other department or agency that Mnuchin may assign.

Although the task force does not include members from the U.S. Postal Service® or the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), the order stipulates that they shall consult with the Postmaster General and the PRC Chairman.
