Next Steps After USPS Rate Case Rejection: Discussion at Buffalo/Niagara PCC Luncheon
On Wednesday, October 13, I and other BCC team members attended a luncheon for the Buffalo/Niagara Postal Customer Council (PCC). The topic of discussion at the event was the rejection of the USPS exigent price increase.
During the discussion, Janine Egloff, USPS Mailing Standards Specialist and Kathleen Burns, District Manager of the Buffalo Post Office, stated that the exigent price increase was just a small part of the USPS action plan. For example, two proposed incentive programs that the USPS developed earlier, Reply Rides Free and Saturation/High Density, will be reexamined for possible future implementation. Egloff and Burns did not give a time frame regarding these decisions. In addition to these programs, they informed the group that while no plans of any kind have been made in this direction, the Postal Service sees potential benefits in moving parcels to a competitive category.
I will post more information on the matter if the Postal Service decides to take steps in this direction.
