Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan Agrees to Delay Retirement
As many of our readers know, in October 2019 Megan J. Brennan, Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer of the USPS®, announced her retirement. The original date for her retirement to take effect was January 31st, 2020 – just over 4 weeks into the new year. However, on January 6th the USPS Board of Governors announced that the PMG has agreed to delay her retirement as they continue their search for a successor. While there has been no word on the length of the delay, the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Robert M. Duncan, expressed his gratitude to the PMG for her decision. “We are grateful to the Postmaster General for her continued commitment to the Postal Service, and share her confidence in the Postal Service’s strong leadership team members who will ensure that we continue to deliver for the American people,” he said.
Commenting on what this change means for BCC Software and the industry at large, BCC Software president Chris Lien had this to say, “The announcement of PMG Megan Brennan to delay her planned retirement is a welcomed decision for BCC Software customers and reflects PMG Brennan’s sincere dedication to stability of the entire mail supply chain. The USPS Board of Governors, many of whom were only recently appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, have a tremendous responsibility in selecting the 75th PMG and CEO of the largest postal delivery network in the world with nearly 500 thousand career employees. We hope the next PMG will have the same spirit of partnership with the industry as PMG Brennan has demonstrated these past five years.”
